Police in Hangzhou published a notice about the results of a preliminary investigation of a case about a woman, surnamed Tan, who said she was raped by a famous TV presenter.
The woman had made the accusation publicly by sharing a short video that captured her citizen ID card showing her real name and ID card number.
Background
On July 25th, Tan made a video accusing a famous TV presenter, Tu Lei, of rape and sexual harassment and shared it on several social media platforms. In the  videos, she said that the incidents took place when she was 19 years old, causing her to suffer emotional and psychological trauma for years.
"I hope the public security organ will investigate Tu Lei and hold him responsible for this." She said in the video.
The ID card information showed that Tan is originally from a village in Houshan Town, Wanzhou, Chongqing, and was born in 1998.
The next day, Tu Lei denied the accusations and he also shared a short video on social media platforms saying that he don't know the woman and he has already reported the matter to the police.
Police Report
Police in Hangzhou said they organized a team to investigate the case, and they were able to track down Tan in another city on the evening of July 27. ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍
When questioned about the accusations she made in the short videos she shared online, Tan gave conflicting stories. She later admitted that she only knew Tu Lei after watching a TV show, but she has never met him in person.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍
Tan's family members told the police that she was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2017. They added that since then, she has spent time in various hospitals for treatment, they also provided the police proof of her condition.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍
Tan was also diagnosed with delusional disorder after police took her to the hospital for confirmation. ‍‍‍‍‍‍
Police have also ruled out the possibility that someone is controlling Tan or that she is acting under someone's instructions.‍‍‍‍
They are now waiting for the complete diagnostic result from the hospital to decide on how they would handle the case.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍
Tan's family members have said they have convinced her to delete all the videos she posted online.
